Psychotherapy
At Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance, we believe quality mental health care should be accessible, transparent, and sustainable. We offer a combination of insurance-based services, self-pay options, and reduced-fee opportunities to help individuals and families access care.
Individual Psychotherapy
- The standard self-pay rate for individual psychotherapy is: $125 per 53–60 minute session
- This rate reflects the clinician’s time spent providing treatment, maintaining records, coordinating care, engaging in professional development, and ensuring high-quality services.
Reduced Fee Program
- A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available based on household income and financial circumstances.
Household Income-Based Rates
- Household Income Over $90,000: $125 per session
- Household Income $60,000-$89,999: $95 per session
- Household Income $40,000-$59,999: $85 per session
- Household Income Under $40,000: $75 per session
Limited Hardship Slots
A small number of additional hardship appointments may be available for individuals experiencing significant financial hardship, including:
- Unemployment
- Disability
- Student status
- Major medical expenses
- Single-parent households
- Other extraordinary circumstances
Hardship rates are determined individually and are subject to availability.
Reduced-fee appointments are limited and may not always be available. Existing clients receiving reduced rates will generally be allowed to maintain their rate unless financial circumstances substantially change.
Prepaid Therapy Plan
- For clients anticipating regular weekly therapy, we offer a prepaid option that provides a modest discount while reserving recurring appointment availability.
Weekly Therapy Plan
$320 per month Includes:
- Up to four psychotherapy sessions per month
- Priority recurring scheduling
- Predictable monthly cost
Unused prepaid sessions may roll forward for future use. If services are discontinued, any unused prepaid balance will be refunded in accordance with practice policy.
Group Psychotherapy
Group therapy rates vary depending on the type and duration of the group. Most psychotherapy groups range from: $25-$50 per session
Reduced-fee opportunities may be available for select groups.
Insurance
Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance accepts many commercial insurance plans through our credentialing partners.
Insurance participation varies by clinician and state. We encourage prospective clients to contact us to verify eligibility and discuss the most affordable options available. Several insurances are accepted [Aetna, Cigna, UHC/Optum, BCBS + VA CCN, TRICARE, and CHAMPVA for some providers]
For TRICARE and VA Community Care Network referrals, please ask your referring provider to submit a referral directly through the appropriate network and request Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance or your preferred clinician when available.
S.A.F.E. – Soldiers and Families Embraced
Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance proudly collaborates with S.A.F.E. (Soldiers and Families Embraced), a Clarksville-based nonprofit organization providing no-cost mental health services to military members, Veterans, first responders, and their families within the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
Individuals seeking services through S.A.F.E. may request a specific provider; however, provider assignment is determined by S.A.F.E. and cannot be guaranteed.
Questions About Cost?
If you are concerned about affordability, please reach out. We are often able to help clients identify the most cost-effective option through insurance, reduced-fee services, community partnerships, or other available resources.
Mental health care is an investment in your health, relationships, and quality of life, and we strive to make that investment as accessible as possible.
Tele-Health
Purpose:
Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications to provide psychotherapy services remotely. This may include video conferencing, phone calls, and secure messaging platforms.
Benefits and Risks:
- Benefits: Increased accessibility, convenience, continuity of care, and flexible scheduling.
- Risks: Potential technology failures, confidentiality breaches, and less personal interaction compared to in-person sessions.
Eligibility and Scope:
Tele-health services are only provided to clients who reside in Tennessee, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Vermont, and Idaho, USA [dependent upon provider]. Services may not be suitable for certain conditions or crises. If telehealth is determined to be inappropriate, alternative care will be discussed.
Confidentiality:
- Reasonable efforts will be made to protect your privacy and confidentiality. However, the use of technology comes with inherent risks, such as unauthorized access.
- Sessions will be conducted through the TherapyNotes Portal.
- You are responsible for ensuring a private and safe space during sessions.
Technology Requirements:
- A stable internet connection.
- A device with video/audio capabilities.
- Access to the TherapyNotes Portal.
Emergency Protocols:
Telehealth is not suitable for emergencies. In case of an emergency, contact 911/988, or go to the nearest hospital. You will need to provide an emergency contact and your location before starting telehealth sessions.
Billing and Insurance:
Sessions are billed at the same rate as in-person therapy unless otherwise specified.
Voluntary Participation and Right to Withdraw:
Participation in telehealth is voluntary. You may withdraw consent at any time without penalty, and alternative arrangements for in-person care at another practice can be discussed.
American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Veterans Mental Health Project
We are incredibly proud that 95 Counties has joined forces with Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance, LLC to launch the American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Veterans Mental Health Project.
95 Counties empowers American Descendants of U.S. Slavery in Tennessee through ancestral history preservation, land protection and advocacy.
Our shared mission is clear: to protect the families, land, and heritage of American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) in Tennessee by taking care of the brave men and women who served our country.
Encompassing all 95 counties in TN, especially areas lacking local mental health resources, this initiative deploys a secure, statewide telehealth pipeline to deliver immediate, evidence-based, trauma-informed individual psychotherapy.
The best part? It comes at absolutely ZERO out-of-pocket cost to the Veteran.
How You Can Help Make an Impact:
Mental health care shouldn’t be a financial barrier for our heroes. While $1,300 fully funds a standard 12-session Short-Term Brief Therapy plan for one ADOS Veteran, literally any amount helps us reach our goals. Whether you want to make a one-time gift or set up an ongoing impact, we offer flexible giving options to fit your budget:
- One-time donations to jumpstart a recovery.
- Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly recurring options to provide sustainable, long-term support for our veterans.
- Every single dollar builds this critical, trusted outpatient safety net. All donations flow through 95 Counties and are tax-deductible charitable donations.
You may be wondering…
Why are we focusing a program on ADOS Veterans? Well, here is the data and the intersecting reality:
- When looking at the broader Veteran community, the public narrative is often unified around a single theme of service and gratitude. However, a closer look at the data reveals that the Veteran experience is far from uniform.
- Along with 95 Counties, we designed this program with a deliberate focus on ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery) Veterans. This focus isn’t about exclusion; it is about recognizing a distinct intersection of institutional gaps, systemic disparities, and compounding trauma that requires targeted, specific solutions.
The data highlights exactly why this approach is important.
1. The 50% Disconnect
- According to VA data, approximately 50% of the nation’s 18+ million veterans are not connected to the VA – meaning they do not utilize a single VA benefit, healthcare service, or support system.
- For ADOS veterans, this gap often points to deep-seated institutional distrust and historical exclusion. When half of the veteran population operates completely outside the safety net they earned, broad outreach fails to reach them. Our program steps into this specific gap.
2. The Reality of Claim Denials
- For those who do attempt to access their benefits, the process has historically yielded unequal results. A Government Accountability Office (GAO) analysis of historical VA data revealed a stark disparity:
- Black veterans faced the lowest initial disability claim approval rates of any racial group at 61%, compared to 75% for white veterans.
- This 14-point gap directly impacts generational wealth, medical care access, and financial stability, creating a specific need for targeted claims advocacy and support.
3. The Impact of “Bad Paper” Discharges
- The disparities often begin long before a veteran files a claim; they start while in uniform. Research indicates that Black service members are roughly 50% more likely than white service members to receive an Other Than Honorable (OTH) or “bad paper” discharge rather than an Honorable discharge.
- Because military justice systems allow for significant subjective discretion, implicit biases can influence outcomes. A bad paper discharge strips a veteran of the GI Bill, VA healthcare, and housing support. This project focuses on this demographic because these discharges frequently fast-track vulnerable veterans into civilian hardships.
The Intersection: Intergenerational Meets Military Trauma
- This project focuses on ADOS veterans because their healing journey requires understanding how military trauma intersects with a foundational bedrock of intergenerational trauma.
- Layered Hypervigilance: ADOS individuals often carry an inherited hypervigilance, a survival mechanism developed from navigating generations of systemic racism and civilian trauma. When military or combat trauma is added to an already overtaxed nervous system, the psychological impact is deeply compounded.
- The Broken Promise of Meritocracy: Many join the military expecting a colorblind meritocracy. Encountering racial harassment or biased disciplinary actions instead triggers a profound moral injury. The disconnect between the values they fought for and the reality they experienced creates a unique emotional burden.
- The Process of “Weathering”: In public health, “weathering” refers to the premature aging and health degradation caused by the chronic stress of enduring systemic racism. Layering military-grade stressors on top of this pre-existing wear-and-tear often leads to worse health outcomes earlier in life for ADOS veterans.
- The Trust Deficit: Intergenerational experiences breed a justifiable skepticism of government, medical, and legal institutions. When an ADOS veteran faces a bureaucratic roadblock at the VA, it often reinforces that distrust, causing them to walk away from the system entirely.
- Blanket veteran initiatives often miss the people at the margins because they treat a diverse community as a monolith.
- We are focusing this program on ADOS veterans because their hurdles are uniquely shaped by history, military justice disparities, and institutional gatekeeping. By acknowledging the compounding weight of historical and military trauma, we can build precise, effective pathways that help these veterans secure the dignity, healing, and benefits they rightfully earned.

Supervision
Philosophy & Expectations
Introduction
Supervision is a dynamic process of professional and personal growth. My approach is centered on building strong alliances, maintaining sustainable self-care, and developing true competency in clinical practice. Below outlines my philosophy, expectations, and non-negotiables for our supervision journey.
Top Three Goals of Supervision
1. Alliance & Rapport Building
- Strong therapeutic alliances extend beyond clinical skills.
- Understanding the person-in-environment perspective is essential.
- Connecting clients to external resources is just as important as direct clinical work.
- Supervisees should actively build relationships with community resources and professional networks.
2. Self-Care & Work-Life Balance
- The helping profession can be emotionally demanding; sustainability is key.
- Self-care goes beyond superficial methods (e.g., spa days, aromatherapy) and involves:
- Setting boundaries
- Managing workload effectively
- Addressing emotional and professional fatigue proactively
- Burnout compromises our ability to provide ethical and effective care.
3. Competency & Specialization
- No one can master everything—true expertise comes from focused effort.
- A broad knowledge base is useful, but true competency requires deep learning in key areas.
- Ethical practice involves knowing our limits and making appropriate referrals when needed.
- Avoid the pressure to list 20+ areas of “expertise”—instead, work toward mastery in a select few.
Non-Negotiables
1. Ethical Integrity
- Ethical dilemmas will arise, but they must be worked through consciously.
- Willful ethical violations or refusal to address accidental violations are unacceptable.
- Ethical practice is a continuous process of self-reflection and accountability.
2. Addressing Impairments in Care
- We all have “our stuff,” but how we handle it matters.
- If personal issues impact the ability to provide care, they must be addressed.
- This may involve accommodations, temporary workload adjustments, or even time off.
- The goal is to ensure that both the provider and the client receive the best possible care.
Expectations for Supervisees
- Openness to Learning – Supervision is a space for growth, not just case consultation.
- Willingness to Build & Develop – Professional and personal development go hand in hand.
- Commitment to Ethical Practice – Thoughtful, conscious decision-making in clinical work is essential.
- Engagement in the Process – This is a collaborative effort; active participation is expected.
Supervision should be an enriching experience that fosters confidence, competence, and longevity in the field. By committing to these principles, we create an environment where both clients and clinicians thrive.

No Surprises Act
In compliance with the No Surprises Act that went into effect January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing.” This Act requires that we notify you of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, if a client is uninsured, or if a client elects not to use their insurance. Additionally, we are required to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services (attached).
It is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for mental health care, and each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental health care. Therefore, attached you will find a fee schedule for the services typically offered by your therapist, and we will collaborate with you on a regular basis to determine how many sessions you may need.
It is a Federal requirement that we have each client sign this form to begin/resume treatment. Please sign and date by your next appointment. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
****************************************************************************
The No Surprise Act, Standard Notice and Consent No Surprise Billing Protection Form:
The purpose of this document is to let you know about your protections from unexpected medical bills. It also asks whether you would like to give up those protections and pay more for out-of-network care. Important: You are not required to sign this form and should not sign it if you did not have a choice of health care provider when you received care. You can choose to get care from a provider or facility in your health plan’s network, which may cost you less. If you would like assistance with this document, ask your provider. Take a picture and/or keep a copy of this form for your records.
Why You Are Receiving this Form:
You’re getting this notice because this provider or facility is not in your health plan’s network. This means the provider or facility does not have an agreement with your plan. Getting care from this provider or facility could cost you more. If your plan covers the item or service you are getting, federal law protects you from higher bills:
• When you get emergency care from out-of-network providers and facilities, or
• When an out-of-network provider treats you at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center without your knowledge or consent.
Ask your health care provider or patient advocate if you need help knowing if these protections apply to you. If you sign this form, you may pay more because:
• You are giving up your protections under the law.
• You may owe the full costs billed for items and services received.
• Your health plan might not count any of the amount you pay towards your deductible and out- of-pocket limit.
Contact your health plan for more information. You shouldn’t sign this form if you didn’t have a choice of providers when receiving care. For example, if a doctor was assigned to you with no opportunity to make a change. Before deciding whether to sign this form, you can contact your health plan to find an in network provider or facility. If there isn’t one, your health plan might work out an agreement with this provider or facility, or another one.
Good Faith Estimate:
The amount below is only an estimate. This estimate shows the full estimated costs services listed. It does not include any information about what your health plan may cover. This means that the final cost of services may be different than the estimate. Contact your health plan to find out how much, if any, your plan will pay and how much you may have to pay.
Full session fee, for a 53 minute session, is $125.00, however there are sliding scale fees and pre-pay options that have been discussed. Session fees are expected to be collected at time of service. A client will only be charged at a later date in the event the payment does not go through on original date of service and payment method must be updated. Your therapist will collaborate with you to discuss session frequency, including plan to decrease frequency as needed. Cancelations are subject to potential cancellation fee payment. Clients will be charged on date of service if no show/no call or late cancelation. Payment may be made through the TherapyNotes portal.
Services offered are: intake assessment (CPT Code 90791 or 90791-95), individual therapy (CPT Code 90834 or 90834-95) and group therapy (CPT Code 90853). Therapist may also charge at 15 minute increments for services such as Online Digital Evaluation & Management (Responding to Emails & Texts) or Telephone Assessment & Management (Case Coordination with other providers) when they take over 15 minutes in duration. Session rate for services is the same.
More information about your rights and protections: Visit https://www.cms.gov/files/document/model-disclosure-notice-patient-protections against-surprise- billing-providers-facilities-health.pdf for more information about your rights under federal law.
