Practicum opportunities may include one or more of the following experiences, depending on the student’s educational requirements, interests, and learning agreement.
Private Mental Health Practice
Gain experience inside a real private mental health practice while developing skills in client engagement, professional communication, community resources, and practice operations.
Potential experiences include:
- Prospective-client calls, texts, and emails
- Client scheduling and communication
- Intake and referral processes
- Community resource development
- Outreach to local agencies and organizations
- Developing referral relationships based on therapists’ specific specialties
- Building professional referral networks
- Social media and online presence

ADOS Veteran Mental Health Project
Community Engagement & Veteran Mental Health
Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance and 95 Counties are seeking MSW/BSW practicum students to participate in our American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Veteran Mental Health Project, focused on expanding mental health support for ADOS Veterans throughout all 95 Tennessee counties.
Students participating in this opportunity can gain hands-on experience with community engagement, professional outreach, relationship development, and connecting organizations with a mental health initiative.
Potential experiences include:
- Program Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Outreach to local businesses and organizations
- Developing community partnerships
- Introducing organizations to the project
- Building professional relationships
- Targeted Outreach & Access Pathway Development
- Supporting community engagement efforts
