Danielle Spell, LMSW | New Mexico Therapist | Trauma & PTSD | Substance Use & Recovery | Military & Veteran Care

Danielle Spell, LMSW, is a New Mexico-licensed Master Social Worker providing virtual therapy to adults across New Mexico through Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance. She brings a compassionate, grounded, and trauma-informed approach to helping New Mexicans navigate trauma, PTSD, substance use, anxiety, mood concerns, emotional regulation, and other life challenges.

Danielle believes therapy should be a space where clients can be honest about what they’re experiencing without judgment while receiving practical, evidence-based support to create meaningful change. She meets clients where they are and works collaboratively to understand their experiences, identify their goals, and develop strategies that feel realistic and sustainable.

Her Areas of Focus

Danielle has particular experience working with adults experiencing:

  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Substance Use & Recovery
  • Anxiety & Emotional Regulation
  • Co-Occurring Mental Health Concerns
  • Mood Disorders
  • Military & Veteran Issues
  • Family & Relationship Stress
  • Life Transitions
  • Relapse Prevention

Her background includes individual and group therapy in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings, with experience supporting clients navigating substance use, trauma histories, complex psychosocial stressors, and significant life transitions.

A Trauma-Informed, Collaborative Approach

Danielle draws from multiple evidence-based approaches and tailors treatment to each client’s individual needs, goals, and readiness for change. Her clinical approach may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, relapse-prevention strategies, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed interventions.

She has also completed EMDR training and additional training in somatic and trauma-focused approaches.

Danielle understands that no two clients—and no two experiences of trauma—are exactly alike. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, she works with each person to identify what is getting in the way and what can help them move forward.

Specialized Experience with Military & Veteran Care

Danielle has specialized academic preparation in Military Social Work and Military, Family & Veteran Care. She brings an understanding of the unique experiences, stressors, transitions, and family dynamics that may accompany military service and Veteran life.

Education & Clinical Training

Danielle earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, along with graduate certificates in Military Social Work and Military, Family & Veteran Care.

She is licensed as an LMSW in New Mexico and provides therapy to clients located in New Mexico through Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance.

Her additional training includes EMDR, trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing, DBT-informed approaches, substance-use treatment, ASAM criteria, suicide intervention, mindfulness, and somatic mind-body approaches.
