Philosophy & Expectations
Introduction
Supervision is a dynamic process of professional and personal growth. My approach is centered on building strong alliances, maintaining sustainable self-care, and developing true competency in clinical practice. Below outlines my philosophy, expectations, and non-negotiables for our supervision journey.

Top Three Goals of Supervision
1. Alliance & Rapport Building
Strong therapeutic alliances extend beyond clinical skills.
Understanding the person-in-environment perspective is essential.
Connecting clients to external resources is just as important as direct clinical work.
Supervisees should actively build relationships with community resources and professional networks.
2. Self-Care & Work-Life Balance
The helping profession can be emotionally demanding; sustainability is key.
Self-care goes beyond superficial methods (e.g., spa days, aromatherapy) and involves:
Setting boundaries
Managing workload effectively
Addressing emotional and professional fatigue proactively
Burnout compromises our ability to provide ethical and effective care.
3. Competency & Specialization
No one can master everything—true expertise comes from focused effort.
A broad knowledge base is useful, but true competency requires deep learning in key areas.
Ethical practice involves knowing our limits and making appropriate referrals when needed.
Avoid the pressure to list 20+ areas of “expertise”—instead, work toward mastery in a select few.

Non-Negotiables
1. Ethical Integrity
Ethical dilemmas will arise, but they must be worked through consciously.
Willful ethical violations or refusal to address accidental violations are unacceptable.
Ethical practice is a continuous process of self-reflection and accountability.
2. Addressing Impairments in Care
We all have “our stuff,” but how we handle it matters.
If personal issues impact the ability to provide care, they must be addressed.
This may involve accommodations, temporary workload adjustments, or even time off.
The goal is to ensure that both the provider and the client receive the best possible care.

Expectations for Supervisees
Openness to Learning – Supervision is a space for growth, not just case consultation.
Willingness to Build & Develop – Professional and personal development go hand in hand.
Commitment to Ethical Practice – Thoughtful, conscious decision-making in clinical work is essential.
Engagement in the Process – This is a collaborative effort; active participation is expected.
Supervision should be an enriching experience that fosters confidence, competence, and longevity in the field. By committing to these principles, we create an environment where both clients and clinicians thrive.
Rates for LCSW Supervision
The full session rate for LCSW supervision is $100 per hour. However, I offer limited sliding scale and pre-payment options based on financial need, which will be discussed if the need were to arise.
Sliding scale slots are very limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis. If your financial situation changes, please notify me for a reassessment of your rate.
